CEC holds meeting with armed forces chiefs
Chief Election Commissioner A M M Nasir Uddin called a high-stakes strategy session with the country’s three armed forces chiefs to review the nation’s law-and-order game plan ahead of 13th parliamentary elections and upcoming referendum.
The meeting kicked off at Election Commission Bhaban on Sunday (December 21), with Army Chief Gen. Waker-uz-Zaman, Navy Chief Adm. Mohammad Nazmul Hasan, and Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmud Khan entering one after another, greeted by EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed.
The briefing focused on pre-election security, illegal arms seizures, counter-terror operations, and maintaining a fair-play environment for voters—ensuring the democratic “match” runs smoothly without disruptions.
A follow-up high-level session with EC commissioners is slated for later in the day to finalise tactics.
