Chamber court upholds HC verdict to appoint receiver for Beximco Group

The chamber judge of the Appellate Division has upheld the High Court’s order of appointing a receiver to maintain all assets of the Beximco Group, owned by Salman F Rahman.

At the same time, the court has scheduled a hearing on this matter before the full bench of the Appellate Division on October 28.

The order was issued by Justice Md Rezaul Haque following a hearing on an application filed against the High Court’s order on Tuesday.

On September 5, the High Court directed the appointment of a receiver to oversee all institutions of Beximco Group, owned by Salman F Rahman, the former private investment advisor to Sheikh Hasina.

Additionally, a rule was issued questioning why the Bangladesh Bank should not be directed to disclose the amount of outstanding loans held by Beximco Group’s institutions.

The Bangladesh Bank was asked to respond to this rule within four weeks.
