Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has indicated that changes are likely at the top level of the police administration and confirmed that parliament will be convened on March 12 on the prime minister’s advice.

Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat after a courtesy meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office on Sunday (February 22), he said, “Some changes will come. Please allow some time,” in response to a question about a possible reshuffle in the police high command.

He said discussions have been held on convening the upcoming session of the Jatiya Sangsad. Under the rules, the president must issue a gazette at least 15 days in advance, after receiving the summary from the Parliament Secretariat through the Prime Minister’s Office.

The minister said the agenda will include the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker, presentation of ordinances promulgated during the interim government, customary condolence motions, and the president’s address, along with regular parliamentary business.

Asked whether discussions were held on electing a new president or Speaker, he said no such discussion has taken place yet, though the Speaker will be elected during the session.

Responding to a query about reported criminal activities at Adabor Mohammadpur, he said authorities have been asked to investigate and submit a report. “If such incidents are confirmed, strict action will be taken,” he added.
