The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has set September 16 to issue its order on framing charges in the case of Amir, who was shot while hanging from a cornice in Rampura during the July uprising.

The case involves five accused, including former Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Habibur Rahman.

A three-member bench of Tribunal-1, led by Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Majumder, issued the order on Thursday (September 11).

During the hearing, Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam and Prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim appeared for the state, while state-appointed lawyer Md. Amir Hossain represented the four absconding accused and sought their discharge from the case.

Advocate Sarwar Jahan argued on behalf of arrested ASI Chanchal Chandra Sarkar. The tribunal fixed September 14 for the rest of the hearing.

Earlier in the day, police produced Chanchal Chandra Sarkar, a former ASI of Rampura police outpost arrested in the case, before the tribunal.
