Chhatra Dal marches through DU campus removing Chhatra Shibir
The Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal held a protest march against what it called “Gupto” politics on campus.
The march, led by Chhatra Dal Central President Rakibul Islam Raki, began around 10:00pm from Shahbagh Police Station area and moved through different parts of the university campus.
Chhatra Dal activists chanted slogans targeting DUCSU Vice President Sadik Kayem, accusing him of engaging in “Gupto” political activities and previously being involved with Chhatra League politics. Protesters also declared that “Chhatra League elements linked to Sadik Kayem will not be allowed at Dhaka University.”
Earlier in the evening, tensions escalated at Shahbagh Police Station after members of rival student groups gathered over a controversy involving a fake social media post about a family member of BNP leadership.
Around 8:00pm, DUCSU leaders AB Zubair and Musaddiq Ali Ibn Mohammad entered the police station, where they were reportedly surrounded by Chhatra Dal activists amid heated exchanges.
The situation further deteriorated as allegations of physical assault emerged, deepening confrontation between student factions.
Subsequently, Chhatra Dal organised its protest march inside the university campus, reinforcing its position against what it described as “hidden political networks” in student politics.
Police presence was maintained in Shahbagh and surrounding areas as tensions remained high, though authorities have not yet confirmed any formal case related to the incidents.
