Chhatra League leader taken from hospital during wife's childbirth

A Chhatra League leader has allegedly been taken away by people identifying themselves as DB police from Parkview Hospital in Chattogram while his wife was in labour. Hat hazari upazila Chhatra League General Secretary Md Hasan was taken away in the incident. However, no comment could be obtained from the Detective Branch (DB) police on the matter.

The incident took place at Parkview Hospital in the city around 10:30am on Monday, September 28.

It was learned that Hasan's wife was admitted to Parkview Hospital for childbirth. At that time, eight to 10 people in plain clothes came to the hospital identifying themselves as DB and took Hasan away.

Hasan's family claimed that Hasan's wife was in labour, and after the baby was born, when he went to bring medicine, a team of 25 to 30 people identifying themselves as DB dragged Hasan away.

A senior official of Parkview Hospital, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Dhaka Post that someone was taken from the hospital by people identifying themselves as DB.

However, it could not be confirmed whether the district DB police arrested Md Hasan.

Additional Superintendent of Police (DB) of Chattogram district, Mohammad Ibrahim, said, "I have been in Dhaka for training for two months. Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic) has been assigned to provide information to the media on behalf of the district police. You can contact him."

When asked about the matter, Chattogram district police spokesperson Additional Superintendent of Police Rasel said he did not have such information.
