Chief Adviser congratulates Nahid Islam on NCP’s electoral success

Chief Adviser to the interim government Dr. Muhammad Yunus has congratulated Nahid Islam, convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP), on the party’s performance in the recently concluded 13th National Parliamentary Election.

In a message issued on Saturday (February 14), Yunus praised the NCP’s “courage, determination and confidence” in contesting the polls, describing its emergence as a significant development in Bangladesh’s democratic journey.

Founded just a year ago in the wake of the 2024 mass uprising, the newly formed party contested 30 seats, winning six and mounting strong competition in several others.

Yunus said the achievement reflected the aspirations, confidence and democratic spirit of the younger generation.

He also commended Nahid Islam’s leadership during the movement and his subsequent role in public service, recalling his tenure as a member of the advisory council as “a valuable experience.”

Yunus expressed hope that the NCP would use its parliamentary representation to uphold constructive, principled and responsible political engagement, contributing to the strengthening of democratic institutions in the country.
