Chief Adviser Yunus congratulates Jamaat Ameer
Chief Adviser of the interim government Dr. Muhammad Yunus has congratulated Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman on the party’s strong performance in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
In a message on Saturday (February 14), Yunus praised Dr. Rahman for leading his party to active participation, fostering healthy competition, and peacefully accepting the election results.
He also commended Jamaat’s conduct during campaigning and after the polls, noting the party’s discipline, responsible statements, and encouragement of peaceful behaviour among its workers contributed to overall political stability.
The Chief Adviser expressed gratitude for Jamaat’s constructive support and cooperation during the interim government period.
According to Election Commission results, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami won 68 seats—the party’s highest-ever parliamentary tally—and, together with allies in the 11-party Jamaat-led coalition, secured a total of 77 seats, establishing itself as a major opposition bloc.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman was elected from Dhaka-15 with 85,131 votes, winning by a wide margin.
