Chief Adviser’s assets rise to Tk 15.62cr, up Tk 1.61cr
The total assets of Chief Adviser of the interim government Dr Muhammad Yunus stood at Tk 15.62 crore as of June 30, 2025, marking an increase of Tk 1.61 crore over the previous year, according to asset disclosures released on Tuesday by the Cabinet Division.
The statement showed that Dr Yunus’s assets amounted to Tk 14.1 crore on June 30, 2024. The increase was attributed to encashment of savings certificates, growth in savings and fixed deposits, and shares received through inheritance.
The Cabinet Division also disclosed the asset statement of Dr Yunus’s wife, Afrozi Yunus. Her total assets stood at Tk 1.27 crore, down from Tk 2.11 crore in the previous fiscal year, indicating a decrease of Tk 84.13 lakh over one year.
Under the Income Tax Act, a taxpayer’s net wealth comprises all movable and immovable, financial and capital assets owned by the individual.
Earlier, the Cabinet Division issued a gazette notification directing the publication of asset statements of advisers and equivalent officials of the interim government, along with those of their spouses. The notification stated that asset disclosures as of June 30, 2024 and June 30, 2025 were being made public in line with directives issued on October 1, 2024.
