Chief Justice administers oath to 3 new PSC members
Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed on Sunday administered the oath of office to three newly appointed members of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC). The new members are Md. Mohiuddin, Professor Muhammad Shaheen Chowdhury of Chittagong University, and Professor M. Amzad Hossain of Rajshahi University.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at 2:00 PM in the Judges’ Lounge of the Supreme Court. It was conducted by Supreme Court Registrar General Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan. Justices of the Appellate Division and senior officials from the PSC were present during the event.
The appointments were officially announced on August 20 through separate notifications issued by the Ministry of Public Administration. The notifications stated that the President made the appointments under the authority granted by Article 138(1) of the Constitution.
As per Article 139(1) of the Constitution, the new members will serve a term of five years from the date they assume office or until they reach the age of 65, whichever comes earlier.
With these new appointments, the total number of PSC members has increased from 15 to 18.
The Bangladesh Public Service Commission is a constitutionally established, independent body responsible for overseeing recruitment to government services across the country.
