Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni has urged Members of Parliament (MPs) to refrain from making phone calls and taking photographs inside the Jatiya Sangsad chamber during ongoing sessions, calling for greater parliamentary discipline and decorum.

The appeal was made on Wednesday evening during parliamentary proceedings, after Deputy Speaker Kaisar Kamal first drew attention to the issue.

During the debate on the motion of thanks on the President’s address, several MPs were seen using mobile phones inside the chamber. The Deputy Speaker noted that phone conversations were audible up to the dais, disrupting ongoing discussions.

Following the remarks, the Chief Whip addressed the House, saying the matter should be taken seriously by all members.

He urged MPs not to use mobile phones for conversations or take photographs inside the chamber during sittings, and suggested stepping outside the chamber if necessary for phone calls.

The Chief Whip also called for maintaining parliamentary etiquette, including avoiding movement in front of members while they are speaking with the Speaker.
