City corporation elections after Ramadan: EC Masud

Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud said that the city corporation elections at the local government level will be held after Ramadan. He made this statement at a program organized by the Reporters Forum for Elections and Democracy on Sunday (March 1).

EC Masud said that the local government elections will be held soon and will be held continuously throughout the year. He also said that the commission is waiting for the decision of the parliament on whether there will be party symbols at the local government level.

Expressing satisfaction over the smooth conduct of the recently held 13th National Parliament elections and referendum, he mentioned that the commission will look into the shortcomings seen in the elections. At the same time, he called for constructive criticism of the commission's activities and for journalists to fulfill their impartial duties.
