CJ forms 63 High Court Division benches as regular judicial work resumes
Chief Justice (CJ) Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury has constituted 63 benches in the High Court Division as the Supreme Court prepares to resume regular judicial proceedings following an extended vacation.
According to a notification published on the Supreme Court website, regular High Court hearings will begin at 10:30am on Sunday (April 19).
Of the 63 benches, 34 will be Division Benches and the remaining 29 will be Single Benches.
The Supreme Court remained closed for 37 consecutive days due to a combination of a 19-day vacation starting March 15 and 18 days of weekly and public holidays.
During this period, judicial functions were maintained through vacation benches in the High Court Division, while the Appellate Division Chamber Court also remained operational.
Court officials said the formation of benches marks the full resumption of normal judicial activities in the High Court Division after the extended recess.
