Close associate of Hadi murder suspect arrested with weapons

Police have arrested Himon Rahman Shikdar, 32, a close associate of motorcycle rider Alamgir, accused in the killing of Inqilab Mancha convener Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, along with a foreign pistol, bullets and a large quantity of explosives.

Additional deputy commissioner of police for Tejgaon division’s Mohammadpur zone, Md Jewel Rana, confirmed the arrest on Wednesday afternoon.

He said Himon Rahman Shikdar was arrested from a residential hotel in Dhaka’s Adabar area on Wednesday morning. Following the arrest, police conducted an operation in Adabar and recovered a foreign pistol and three rounds of bullets based on his information.

The officer said Himon had been hiding at the hotel and allegedly controlling criminal activities from there.

Police learned during preliminary investigation that the motorcycle used in the killing was driven by Alamgir and Himon was his close associate.
