CNG station closure time extended by 3 hrs during Ramadan
During Ramadan, the government has extended the closure hours of CNG filling stations by three hours to meet the increased gas demand for electricity generation at iftar time.
On Friday, 3 March, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said in a notification that from the first day of Ramadan until 14 March, CNG stations will remain closed daily from 3pm to 9pm.
Previously, stations were closed daily from 6pm to 9pm. The new decision extends the closure period to six hours.
The notification stated that to address low-pressure conditions in the gas distribution network, the closure hours of existing CNG stations will be extended from 3pm to 9pm from the first day of Ramadan until 14 March.
The government said the move aims to ensure uninterrupted gas supply for electricity generation during Ramadan and at iftar time.
In addition, ahead of the upcoming Eid ul-Fitr, CNG and filling stations will remain open continuously from 15 to 25 March to ensure smooth traffic on highways and uninterrupted fuel supply.
From 26 March, the previous schedule will resume, with stations closing daily from 6pm to 9pm.
