Cocktail exploded inside St. Joseph High School compound in Mohammadpur

A cocktail explosion occured inside St. Joseph High School in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur area early hours of Saturday (November 8), though no casualties were reported.

Following the explosion, the school filed a general diary (GD) with Mohammadpur Police Station.

The incident took place around 2:30am inside the school’s Gate No. 3, the authorities said.

According to school officials, there was no electricity at the time of the incident. An unidentified person reportedly threw the cocktail from outside the gate, causing the explosion.

Police later visited the scene for inspection.

Mohammadpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Rafiqul Ahmed said the perpetrators have not yet been identified.

"Police are reviewing CCTV footage to trace those involved," he added.

Earlier the same night, two crude bombs were thrown at St. Mary’s Cathedral Church in Kakrail, one of which exploded while the other was defused by police. No injuries were reported in that incident either.
