The Meteorological Department has forecasted that Bangladesh may experience continued cold and foggy weather over the next few days.

On Friday, the lowest temperature was recorded at 9°C in Jashore, while Dhaka registered a minimum of 13.5°C.

Meteorologist Shahnaz Sultana said the nationwide chill is expected to intensify, accompanied by dense fog in several regions.

The department’s five-day forecast (from Thursday 6pm) cites the influence of the subcontinental high-pressure system over West Bengal as a factor for the persistent cold.

Moderate to dense fog may disrupt air, river, and road transport in various areas. Daytime temperatures are expected to remain steady, while the cold will be more pronounced due to fog.

Northern districts and river basins are likely to experience denser fog through the weekend, with mostly dry skies and partly cloudy conditions nationwide.
