Complaint filed against Anis Alamgir, Shaon, 2 others

A complaint has been filed against journalist Anis Alamgir, actress Meher Afroz Shaon, and two others under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The complaint was lodged on Sunday night (December 14) at Uttara West Police Station by Arian Ahmed, central organiser of the July Revolutionary Alliance.

The other accused are Maria Kispotta and Imtu Ratish Imtiaz.

According to the complaint, the accused allegedly took part in efforts by supporters of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina to destabilise the state following the July 2024 student movement.

It also claims that since August 5, 2024, they have used social media and television appearances to promote banned organisations and incite Chhatra League and Jubo League activists, leading to anti-state conspiracies and violence.

Uttara West Police OC Kazi Mohammad Rafiq Ahmed confirmed about the complaint, saying it is cyber-related and may be registered as a formal case after verification and instructions from senior officials.

On the same night, Anis Alamgir was taken to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch for questioning.
