Constable leaks CMP Commissioner’s 'shoot-at-sight' order arrested
A Police constable has been arrested on charges of leaking a confidential statement made by Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Hasib Aziz over a walkie-talkie.
Arrested, Ami Das, who works in the CMP’s telecom unit at Khulshi Police Station, was arrested under the Official Secrets Act on Sunday night (August 17).
The leak involved a “shoot-at-sight” order given by the CMP Commissioner on August 12, following an attack on Sub-Inspector Abu Sayed of the Bandar Police Station by Awami League activists. The Commissioner’s message, which was intended for CMP officers, was recorded on a walkie-talkie and later spread on social media.
Following the leak, senior CMP officials launched an investigation, identifying Ami Das as the source. The order had directed all armed CMP members to carry weapons and ammunition while on duty, emphasizing strict protocols in response to the attack.
