Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman has said the country faces threats from both fascism and fundamentalism, calling on everyone to remain vigilant against both forces.

"On one side, fascism is trying to usurp sovereignty; on the other, fundamentalists are blinded by the lure of power," he said.

The minister made the remarks while speaking at the July National Conference organised at the China-Bangladesh Friendship International Conference Centre in the capital on Saturday, July 4.

"The path shown by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is the path to realise the dream of July. The government will follow that path and is committed to ensuring justice for every killing that took place in July," the law minister said.

He said the prime minister has repeatedly stated that the government is committed to implementing every article of the July Charter. However, certain quarters are trying to create confusion over the July Charter by demanding a so-called referendum.

The law minister said the government has made it clear that such a demand is not part of the July Charter. Yet, new tactics are being used to spread confusion.

He urged everyone to uphold the spirit of July and resist all forms of confusion by keeping the July Charter at the forefront. He said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's leadership and guidance are the path to implementing the goals of July.
