Country's fuel stock stands at 1,92,919 tonnes: Govt
The country's total fuel stock currently stands at 192,919 tonnes, with supply remaining stable through regular imports, a senior official said.
Monir Hossain Chowdhury, spokesperson and joint secretary of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, disclosed the figures at a press briefing at the Secretariat, on Tuesday (March 31).
"The current stock includes 128,939 tonnes of diesel, 7,940 tonnes of octane, 11,431 tonnes of petrol, and 44,609 tonnes of jet fuel," he said.
The government is also planning ahead to ensure adequate jet fuel supply ahead of the upcoming Hajj season, he added.
Highlighting enforcement efforts, the official said a total of 391 drives were conducted nationwide to curb illegal fuel hoarding. On March 30 alone, authorities recovered 87,700 litres of fuel, including 67,400 litres of diesel, 644 litres of octane, and 13,856 litres of petrol.
Authorities filed 191 cases, imposed fines totaling Tk 903,570, and handed down jail sentences to three individuals in separate incidents, reflecting intensified efforts to tackle illegal fuel storage.
