Court orders probe into Piya's GD seeking security

A court has ordered an investigation into the General Diary (GD) filed by model, actress and lawyer Jannatul Ferdous Piya seeking security. Metropolitan Magistrate Kamal Uddin on Monday directed the Officer-in-Charge of Banani Police Station to investigate the GD and submit a report within one month. The matter was confirmed by SI Mostafa Kamal of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Prosecution Division.

In the GD filed with Banani Police Station on July 8, Piya stated that she is not directly or indirectly involved with any political party in the past or present, nor does she have any political motive. After recently taking a stand in favour of a woman's safety and justice, she has been receiving numerous threats, intimidation and offensive messages on social media, alongside threatening phone calls from unidentified individuals.

The GD further stated that several unidentified individuals have been following her for about three months. This has created a sense of insecurity for her and her family, with a fear of harm at any time. She sought legal action and police protection.
