A Dhaka court on Sunday rejected the bail application of Ahmed Jobayer, former Managing Director of Somoy Television, in a fraud and forgery case. Metropolitan Magistrate Israt Jahan passed the order after a hearing. Jobayer has been in jail since June 18, while other accused in the case are on bail . An arrest warrant was issued against Jobayer and others on June 17 for failing to appear in court. He surrendered the next day but was sent to jail . The case was filed on May 10 by Syed Asaduzzaman on charges of fraud, breach of trust and document forgery .

প্রতারণা, বিশ্বাসভঙ্গ ও জালিয়াতির মামলায় সময় টেলিভিশনের সাবেক ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক (এমডি) আহমেদ জোবায়েরের জামিন আবেদন খারিজ করেছেন আদালত। রোববার (১২ জুলাই) শুনানি শেষে ঢাকার মহানগর ম্যাজিস্ট্রেট ইসরাত জাহান এ আদেশ দেন। আহমেদ জোবায়ের গত ১৮ জুন থেকে কারাগারে রয়েছেন। তবে একই মামলার অন্য আসামিরা জামিনে আছেন। এর আগে আদালতে হাজির না হওয়ায় গত ১৭ জুন আহমেদ জোবায়েরসহ সংশ্লিষ্ট আসামিদের বিরুদ্ধে গ্রেপ্তারি পরোয়ানা জারি করা হয়। পরদিন তিনি আদালতে আত্মসমর্পণ করলে আদালত তাকে কারাগারে পাঠানোর নির্দেশ দেন। গত ১০ মে সাইয়েদ আসাদুজ্জামান প্রতারণা, বিশ্বাসভঙ্গ ও নথি জালিয়াতির অভিযোগে এ মামলাটি দায়ের করেন। মামলার বিচারিক কার্যক্রম চলমান রয়েছে।
