Court rejects bail plea of MA Mannan

A Sunamganj tribunal has rejected the bail plea of former planning minister MA Mannan. Judge Nirjan Kumar Mitra of the Speedy Trial Tribunal passed the order on Sunday.

The order was issued after hearing the arguments from both sides in Mannan’s absence.

MA Mannan was supposed to be taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital after he fell ill in Sunamganj jail on Saturday.

However, he was later taken to Sylhet Central Jail. He is being treated at the prison. He may be taken to Osmani Medical College Hospital after reviewing his security and physical condition, prison sources confirmed.

Former planning minister MA Mannan was accused in the case filed over the attack on students and people in Sunamganj on August 4.

Later, police arrested him from his Shantiganj residence around 1:30am on September 19.
