The court has ordered the seizure of former cultural minister and actor Asaduzzaman Noor's income tax documents on corruption charges.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court Judge Md. Sabbir Faiz issued the order in response to an application by the ACC on Wednesday (April 8).

Court bench assistant Md. Riaz Hossain confirmed the matter.

Assistant Director and Investigation Officer of the case Md. Ferdous Rahman, on behalf of the ACC, applied for the seizure of income tax documents.

The application states that Asaduzzaman Noor is accused of abusing his power to acquire assets worth about Tk 53.7 million inconsistent with the known source of income. In addition, suspicious transactions worth about Tk 158.78 million have been found in his name in 19 banks and financial institutions.

Based on this allegation, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against him under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

In the interest of a fair investigation of the case, an application was made to the court, highlighting the need to seize and review all documents related to the defendant's income tax, including permanent and miscellaneous parts, in order to ensure a fair investigation of the case. The court took this order into consideration.
