Court sentences Sheikh Hasina to 10 years, Tulip 4, Azmina-Bobi 7

A Dhaka court has sentenced ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Tulip Rizwana Siddique, and 34 others in connection with irregularities in the allocation of 20 kathas of government plots under the Purbachal New Town Project.

Judge Robiul Alam of Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 passed the order at 11:00am on Monday (February 2).

Sheikh Hasina received a total of 10 years’ imprisonment across two cases, while Tulip Rizwana Siddiq was sentenced to four years and fined Tk 1 lakh and Azmina Siddiq and Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby were each sentenced to seven years, and their allocated plots were ordered to be cancelled.

Additionally, 14 officials from RAJUK and the Ministry of Public Works were sentenced to five years each. RAJUK member Khurshid Alam received one year’s imprisonment and a Tk 1 lakh fine.
