Crowd gathers at Tejgaon old airport to watch Victory Day air show
A large crowd gathered at the old Tejgaon Airport in Dhaka to watch an air show organised to mark Victory Day. From around 9:45 am on Tuesday, December 16, people were seen streaming into the venue.
On the ground, long queues of spectators were visible at the entrance of the old airport adjacent to Agargaon. Visitors were allowed to enter after security checks. Members of the Army, Air Force and Border Guard Bangladesh were deployed to maintain security.
Thousands of people had already entered the venue to watch the air show. Many were seen carrying national flags, while some wore headbands and clothing bearing the colours of the national flag or Victory Day slogans. Red-and-green attire was common among the spectators.
December 16 marks Victory Day. According to an official briefing, a grand air show was scheduled to begin at 10:00 am at the old Tejgaon Airport. However, the show had not started even by 10:20 am.
The briefing also said the air show would be open to the public. Meanwhile, the government has requested people not to fly drones in and around the Tejgaon old airport area on the day.
