Crowd of leaders, activists at airport to welcome Mirza Abbas
Mirza Abbas, BNP Standing Committee member and Prime Minister’s political adviser, is returning home after long treatment in Singapore and Malaysia after five and a half months. His wife Afroza Abbas is accompanying him.
The flight carrying Mirza Abbas left Kuala Lumpur Airport in Malaysia for Dhaka around 7:30pm local time on Wednesday (September 2). The flight is scheduled to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 9pm Bangladesh time.
On receiving the news of his return home, BNP leaders and activists gathered outside the VVIP terminal of the airport to welcome him. Several hundred leaders and activists are waiting there. They were also seen raising various slogans at that time.
Slogans like ‘Shubhechcha swagatam, amar bhaiyer agomon’, ‘Lal golap shubhechcha’ and ‘Abbas bhaiyer bhoy nai, rajpath chhari nai’ filled the airport area. Women activists of the party also stood in a queue outside the terminal to welcome Mirza Abbas. Their queue stretched up to the main road.
Earlier on March 11, Mirza Abbas suddenly lost consciousness while drinking water during iftar. As his physical condition did not improve, he was admitted to Evercare Hospital that night.
Later on March 15, when his physical condition deteriorated, he was taken from Dhaka to Singapore by air ambulance. After receiving treatment there, he was shifted to Malaysia for further treatment. After long treatment, this senior leader of BNP is now returning home.
