Cyber Dal vice-president arrested over Radda health centre vandalism

Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch has arrested Sazzad Hossain Mishu Molla, 36, vice-president of the Bangladesh Nationalist Cyber Dal, in connection with the vandalism, looting and demolition of the Radda MCH-FP Centre in Mirpur-1.

Police arrested Molla during a raid in the Mirpur area on Saturday, October 3. Further legal action against him is underway, police said.

Mohammad Rakib Khan, deputy commissioner of the Detective Branch’s Mirpur division, confirmed the arrest to the media.

Police said Molla is a former founding committee member of the Shah Ali thana unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and currently serves as vice-president of the Bangladesh Nationalist Cyber Dal.

The Radda MCH-FP Centre was attacked around midnight on September 25 by a large group of masked men. The attackers allegedly looted medicines, vaccines, medical equipment and other valuables before using heavy machinery to demolish parts of the health facility.

Police have previously arrested several people in connection with the incident, while investigations and raids to identify other suspects have continued.
