Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman has said the government will enact the kind of laws the people want. He also said opinions on the law have been taken from editors of media outlets as well as people from various classes and professions. He said this at a discussion programme marking US Constitution Day at Dhaka University on Thursday morning, September 17. The Law Minister said the Cyber Protection Act will be amended ensuring freedom of speech while also keeping in mind that no individual's dignity is harmed. Md Asaduzzaman said the consideration that no one can spread misinformation online in the name of journalism will also be kept in mind in the new Cyber Protection Act.

মানুষ যে ধরনের আইন চায় সেই ধরনের আইনই সরকার আনবে বলে জানিয়েছেন আইনমন্ত্রী মো. আসাদুজ্জামান। তিনি আরও জানান, আইনটির বিষয়ে গণমাধ্যমের সম্পাদকসহ নানা শ্রেণি-পেশার মানুষের মতামত নেওয়া হয়েছে। বৃহস্পতিবার (১৭ সেপ্টেম্বর) সকালে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে ইউএস কনস্টিটিউশান দিবসে উপলক্ষে এক আলোচনা সভায় তিনি এথা জানান। আইনমন্ত্রী বলেন, ফ্রিডম অব স্পিচ নিশ্চিতের পাশাপাশি ব্যক্তির সম্মানহানি যেন না হয় সেদিকে খেয়াল রেখে সাইবার সুরক্ষা আইন সংশোধন হবে। মো. আসাদুজ্জামান জানান, অনলাইনে কেউ সাংবাদিকতার নামে অপতথ্য যেন না ছড়াতে পারে সেবিষয়টিও বিবেচনায় রাখা হবে নতুন সাইবার সুরক্ষা আইনে।
