The first phase of the 2027 Bishwa Ijtema will be held from January 8 to 10 and the second phase from January 15 to 17, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said.

He announced the dates after a meeting on preparations for the annual religious gathering at the Secretariat in Dhaka on Thursday (September 3).

According to the schedule, the two phases will be held at the Ijtema ground in Tongi on January 8-10 and January 15-17.

Salahuddin said the relevant authorities would take necessary measures to ensure security, maintain law and order, facilitate transportation and provide other essential services for the gathering.

Bishwa Ijtema, one of the country’s largest annual religious gatherings, is held on the bank of the Turag River in Tongi and draws a large number of devotees from Bangladesh and abroad.

The event is generally organised in two phases under the arrangements of the two factions of Tabligh Jamaat.
