The four-day Deputy Commissioner (DC) Conference is set to begin in Dhaka on Sunday (May 3).

A total of 498 proposals from divisional commissioners and DCs will be discussed, officials said.

According to the Cabinet Division, a total of 1,729 proposals were submitted by eight divisional commissioners and 64 district DCs. After review, 498 proposals have been included in the official agenda for discussion at the conference.

Officials said proposals not included in the agenda were either previously discussed in earlier conferences or rejected due to objections from relevant ministries and departments.

The conference will continue until Wednesday (May 6).

On the opening day, the inaugural session will be held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium at 10:30am in the presence of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, followed by an open discussion with the Prime Minister at noon.

The closing session will also take place at the same venue.

As part of the programme, DCs are also scheduled to meet President Mohammed Shahabuddin, Chief Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury, the chiefs of the three armed forces, and Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, according to official sources.

This is the first DC Conference under the BNP-led government.
