Death toll in training aircraft crash rises to 27
Four more students undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery have died in the training aircraft crash incident at Milestone School and College in Uttara of the capital.
They are - Erikson, 13, Aryan, 13, Nazia, 13, and Sayan Yusuf, 14. This brings the death toll in the incident to 27.
Dr. Shaon Bin Rahman, resident surgeon at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, confirmed the matter at 3am on Tuesday.
Earlier, in a statement issued by the ISPR at 8pm on Monday, it was said that the death toll in the plane crash was 20 while 171 people were injured. They are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the capital.
However, at 10:30 pm, Dr. Shaon Bin Rahman said that teacher Maherin Chowdhury, 40, and Afnan, 14, who were undergoing treatment there had died. Abdullah Samin, 14, died at 1:30am, he said.
A Bangladesh Air Force training plane crashed in Uttara in the capital after 1pm on Monday. The plane hit a building of Milestone School and College in Uttara and crashed. The plane and the school building immediately caught fire, causing the casualties.
