Deaths from measles and symptoms rise to 1,022

The Directorate General of Health Services has said the number of deaths from measles and its symptoms in the country has risen to 1,022.

Three more people died with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours. However, no one died from confirmed measles during this period.

This information was given in a measles-related bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services on Sunday. The bulletin covered the situation from 8am Saturday to 8am Sunday.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services, a total of 1,022 people have died from measles infection and measles symptoms from April 10 till now. Of them, 922 died with measles symptoms and 100 died from confirmed measles.

Measles symptoms appeared in 905 more people across the country in the last 24 hours. This takes the total number of people showing measles symptoms from April 10 till now to 171,543.

Confirmed measles was detected in 63 more people in the same period. As a result, the number of confirmed measles cases in the country from April 10 till now stands at 20,069.

Division-wise, the highest number of deaths with measles symptoms occurred in Dhaka Division, where 415 people died. This was followed by 157 in Sylhet Division, 93 in Rajshahi, 77 in Mymensingh, 70 in Chattogram, 57 in Barishal, 39 in Khulna and 14 in Rangpur Division.
