March for Unity
Declaration of July uprising demanded within Jan 15
Speakers at the 'March for Unity' program of the anti-discrimination student movement have demanded the publication of the July uprising by January 15. At the same time, the Awami League has been declared the only enemy of the anti-discrimination movement after August 5.
The program began at 4:15 pm on Tuesday (December 31) at the central Shaheed Minar in the capital.
Since the morning, students and public from different parts of the country including Dhaka started gathering with processions and banners, flags, and festoons on the occasion of the program. In addition, after the central member conference of the Islami Chhatra Shibir, they also participated in the 'March for Unity' program after 3 pm.
A documentary of the July Movement is being shown on a digital screen at the Shaheed Minar, pictures of repression and oppression during the Sheikh Hasina government's tenure. The students and public who came to the program kept raising slogans like 'Abu Sayeed Mugdho, the war is not over', 'Delhi is not Dhaka, Dhaka is Dhaka', 'Dalali Na Rajpath, Rajpath Rajpath', 'We want we want, justice, justice'. A large number of police, police dog squad, RAB, DB and other law enforcement agencies have taken positions at the rally site.
Several coordinators have said that the Awami League will be declared irrelevant in light of the declaration of the July Revolution that is expected to come. Speakers at the event said, "The blood stains of the martyrs have not dried yet, and some are trying to rehabilitate the dictatorship. Whenever we want to rid the country of fascism forever, some individuals and parties come out in civilized form to oppose. We will resist them if necessary." The anti-discrimination student movement was supposed to read the declaration of independence at Shaheed Minar today.
At that time, Hasnat Abdullah said, "The only enemy of the anti-discrimination movement after August 5 is the Awami League." He also expressed anger over the lack of improvement in the law and order situation in the country and the lack of justice for any of the murders of the July Movement.
Sarjis Alam said, "Our fight is not over yet. The terrorists of Chhatra League and Jubo League are still roaming outside. If we cannot avenge the blood of our martyred brothers, our movement will fail. After the 5th, the syndicate has passed from one hand to another. Why don't you break that hand? The murderers are still at large in Gopalganj, they must be brought to justice. We want freedom from the syndicate. We want good treatment for the injured brothers."
At this time, Mahin Sarkar said, we want to question the interim government, many police, BGB opened fire indiscriminately on the students during the July movement. Why have they not been arrested yet? Today too, our brothers were attacked in Gopalganj. The police administration played a silent role there. He also commented that the Awami League should be banned at this time.
Umama Fatema, spokesperson for the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, said, our fellow fighters shed blood on the streets during the July Revolution. But why were their lives not provided security? Terrorists attacked the convoy. We want to make it clear that no elections will be held before the Awami League is judged.
Zahid Ahsan presided over the March for Unity program.
At the same time, it was announced that the Awami League would be declared an irrelevant party and the "Mujibist" current constitution would be written in the grave. After that, when the interim government announced that the declaration would be read, confusion began on Monday evening about whether the declaration would be read today or not. In such a context, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement held a press conference at its office in Bangla Motor in the capital at around 1:45 am on Monday. It was said that the July Revolution declaration will not be released at 3 pm today, Tuesday. However, a 'March for Unity' program will be held at the Central Shaheed Minar.
