Dengue cases surge as one dies, 110 hospitalised in 24 hours

A 75-year-old man has died of dengue in the last 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). The death was reported from Khulna division between 8:00 am on Sunday, May 31, and 8:00 am on Monday, June 1.

A total of 110 new dengue patients were hospitalised across the country during the same period, bringing the total number of hospitalisations this year to 3,307. The death toll from dengue so far this year stands at six.

According to the DGHS bulletin, Barishal division recorded the highest number of new hospitalisations with 35 patients. The breakdown of new admissions includes Dhaka (both city corporations) 13, Dhaka division 15, Mymensingh division 8, Chattogram division 12, Khulna division 21, Rajshahi division 5 and Sylhet division 1.
