Dengue claims three more lives, 534 hospitalised in 24 hours

The dengue outbreak continues across the country. Three more people have died from dengue in the last 24 hours. During the same period, 534 new patients were admitted to various hospitals across the country .

The Directorate General of Health Services provided this information in its latest dengue situation report published by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room on Wednesday (July 29) .

According to the report, a total of 50 people have died from dengue since the beginning of this year. The Directorate General of Health Services said the infection rate is increasing as mosquito breeding rises during the monsoon season .

The DGHS stated that there is no alternative to awareness at both individual and social levels to prevent dengue. Special emphasis has been given to ensuring that no clean water accumulates anywhere in and around homes, rooftops and yards, as stagnant water serves as the primary breeding ground for Aedes mosquitoes .

According to public health experts, regular destruction of mosquito breeding sites, removal of stagnant water and protective measures against mosquito bites can significantly reduce the risk of dengue infection .

Doctors have advised that if fever is accompanied by body ache, headache, pain behind the eyes, vomiting, extreme weakness or other dengue symptoms, one should seek medical advice without delay. They also emphasised adequate fluid intake, rest and following doctors' instructions for treatment .

The DGHS has urged everyone to keep their homes and workplaces clean and take collective initiatives to prevent dengue .
