Dense fog at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport grounded all international flights from Friday night until early Saturday, as runway visibility dropped significantly. Several flights circled in the air before safety concerns led to a Saudi-bound flight from Jeddah being diverted to Kolkata.

Airport authorities confirmed that around a dozen flights landed in Dhaka with delays of 2–4 hours. Delayed flights included SalamAir from Muscat, Biman’s Guangzhou and Kuala Lumpur flights, Air Arabia’s Sharjah service, four US-Bangla flights, and Qatar Airways from Doha.

Normal flight operations resumed after 9:00am once weather conditions improved, and diverted flights returned from Kolkata, the authorities said.

The Meteorological Department warned that medium to dense fog could persist in Dhaka until Saturday afternoon, reducing visibility further. High humidity is expected to make the cold feel more intense.
