Deposed dictators’ backers could manipulate vote: CA

Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has warned that supporters of deposed autocrat may attempt to manipulate the upcoming parliamentary elections, while assuring that law enforcement agencies are ready to handle any situation.

He made the remarks during a meeting with the head of the European delegation observing the national election on Sunday (January 11).

Later, at a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy, his press secretary Shafiqul Alam said the Chief Adviser highlighted strong voter interest, particularly among women and young people, and expressed optimism for a high turnout.

Shafiqul Alam clarified that the discussion did not touch upon the participation of the ruling Awami League or any other party in the election.
