Despite 17 years of threats, conspiracy against me continues: Mirza Abbas
BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas said he has been a target of abductions and attacks for 17 years, yet conspiracies against him continue. He stated, “The attitude is that BNP should not be able to speak. Whenever we speak, it is twisted in various ways. Lobbyists are hired with millions of dollars to target us on social media.”
Speaking at a prayer and memorial session at Shahbagh BIRDEM Hospital on Monday afternoon, Abbas said, “I am being targeted. Those spreading false information about me are immature. If such immature individuals enter parliament, God knows the state of the legislature.”
He alleged that those creating unrest during elections, inciting violence, and causing chaos never truly wanted Bangladesh’s independence. “People will no longer fall into their trap. A faction is conspiring against patriotic forces,” he added.
Recalling the 2018 elections, Abbas said, “We were attacked in many ways. My house served as a hospital. Three ambulances continuously worked to take the injured to hospitals from attacks by Awami League militants. National leader Khaleda Zia protected us at the risk of her life, yet no gratitude was shown.”
Special guests at the session included BNP Health Secretary Dr. Rafiqul Islam, Bangladesh Diabetic Association Secretary Md. Saifuddin, BIRDEM Hospital Director Dr. Md. Nasir Uddin, and several doctors and staff.
