The name of the new university, formed by seven government colleges in the capital previously affiliated with Dhaka University, has been finalised as 'Dhaka Central University'.

From now on, the activities of these seven colleges will be carried out under this new name.

This decision was made during a meeting with a 32-member student delegation at the UGC on Sunday ( March 16).

Earlier, there was confusion among the student delegation in choosing between two proposed names: 'Dhaka Central University' and 'Federal University'.

The naming meeting for the proposed university will be held on March 16 at 10 am in the conference room, chaired by the commission chairman, to establish an independent university structure for the seven colleges, it read.
