Dhaka Education Board issues urgent directives for Class IX registration

The Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board has issued an urgent directive for the Class IX registration process for the 2026–27 academic session, which is scheduled to begin on August 2.

The directive was issued on Monday (July 27) in a notification signed by Prof Dr Md Masud Rana Khan, an official of the Board's Controller of Examinations Office, under the authority of the Board Chairman.

According to the new directive, students will be able to complete registration without a late fee until August 30. The registration fee has been fixed at Tk196 per student. Those registering after the deadline must pay an additional Tk 140 as a late fee, bringing the total to Tk336.

Additionally, only students who have passed the Class VIII annual examination and obtained registration will be eligible for admission and registration in Class IX.

The Board also stipulated that students must be between 12 and 18 years of age at the time of registration; applications outside this age limit will not be accepted.

To ensure accuracy, every educational institution has been instructed to form a three-member verification committee, including the class teacher, to review all information before online submission. Any errors in student information will make the institution's head and committee members jointly responsible.

The Board has also prohibited the involvement of students in the registration process.

Regarding academic streams, the Board said students may choose Science, Humanities or Business Studies with the consent of their guardians. Institutions may also determine the stream based on students' Class VIII examination results.

Educational institutions will not be required to visit the Board to submit registration fees. Payments can be made through Sonali Seba, after which the online eSIF form can be completed within 24 hours.

The Board further warned that institution heads will bear full responsibility for any failure to complete registration within the stipulated deadline or for any complications arising from the process.
