'Dhaka Festival' to mark city's 416th anniversary, PM to inaugurate

The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) is organising a seven-day 'Dhaka Festival' from August 1 to mark the 416th anniversary of Dhaka municipality. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will inaugurate the festival.

DSCC Administrator Abdus Salam announced the details at a press conference at the DSCC auditorium on Monday, July 13.

He said the festival aims to showcase the capital's history, heritage, culture and literature to the new generation.

The week-long programme will begin with the inauguration at Lalbagh Fort, featuring traditional Old Dhaka food stalls, a clean Dhaka and mosquito control campaign, kite festival, boat race and various cultural events.

The DSCC hopes the festival will help highlight Dhaka's heritage, culture and civic identity.
