Dhaka Metro Rail to remain suspended on Eid Day, special schedule for holidays
The metro rail service in Bangladesh’s capital will remain fully suspended on the day of Eid-ul-Azha, while operating under a special timetable during the remaining holiday period, the authorities said.
The decision was announced by the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited), which stated that services will resume on a modified schedule after Eid to accommodate passenger demand.
Under the revised timetable, trains from Uttara North Station will begin operations at 6:30am, while services from Motijheel Station will start at 7:15am. The last trains will depart at 9:30pm from Uttara North and at 10:10pm from Motijheel.
Officials said trains will run at intervals of 12 to 15 minutes, with adjustments possible depending on passenger flow. Around 140 trips per day are planned, operated using seven train sets.
Ticketing and Rapid Pass recharge services will be available from 6:40am to 1:20am. On Fridays, ticket sales will begin at 2:45pm from Uttara and 3:05pm from Motijheel stations.
Ticket counters and vending machines will close daily at 9:20pm, although Rapid Pass purchase and recharge facilities will remain available within designated hours.
DMTCL confirmed that only Eid day will see a complete shutdown of metro rail operations.
