Dhaka records 18mm rainfall in 24 hrs, more showers likely today

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has recorded 18 millimetres of rainfall in Dhaka over the past 24 hours, with further rain or thundershowers expected on Saturday (March 14).

In a forecast issued by the department’s storm warning centre for Dhaka and adjoining areas from 7:00am for the next six hours, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy to temporarily overcast until noon, with chances of rain or thunderstorms.

Winds may blow from the west or southwest at speeds of 8–12 km/h, which could cause a slight drop in daytime temperatures.

According to the meteorological office, the temperature in Dhaka was 25.2°C at 6:00am, with relative humidity at 87 percent. The city recorded a maximum temperature of 32.9°C on Friday, while Saturday’s minimum temperature was 22.7°C.

Sunset in Dhaka is expected at 6:07pm, while sunrise on Sunday will be at 6:08am.

In its nationwide outlook, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department said that by 6:00pm today, rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds and lightning may occur at some places in the Rangpur Division, Dhaka Division, Mymensingh Division and Sylhet Division, and at one or two places in Rajshahi Division, Khulna Division, Barishal Division and Chattogram Division.

Day and night temperatures across the country may rise slightly, the forecast added.
