Dismissed army personnel lift street blockade after assurance

Armed forces personnel who were dismissed and forced to retire during the previous government took a stand in front of the Shaheed Jahangir Gate of Dhaka Cantonment with three-point demands, including reinstatement in their jobs and reform of the judicial system.

They took this stand under the banner of the platform of dismissed armed forces members since Sunday (December 29) morning.

At around 1 pm, senior military officials, on the instructions of the chiefs of the three services, met with the coordinators of the protesters and assured them of accepting their demands. Later, Captain Enamul, a member of the Navy, spoke to them. After that, the protesters moved away from the road.

At this time, Chief Coordinator Naimul Islam said that they have been assured of reviewing and accepting their demands within the next five working days. Earlier, the protesters took a stand at Jahangir Gate since 8 am. During this time, they raised various slogans demanding their jobs back.
