The government has decided to form ‘vigilance teams’ in every district of the country to keep the fuel oil market stable and monitor the supply system. At the same time, a special reward is being announced for those who provide information on any illegal hoarding or manipulation of oil.

The government announced this special initiative on Friday (March 27).

Initial investigations revealed that an unscrupulous group illegally removes fuel oil from sea-going ships and oil depots during the transportation of fuel oil and supplies it to various local vendors.

The administration is taking a strict stance to maintain order in the energy sector, keep the fuel oil supply system normal and prevent illegal hoarding. Currently, all oil depots, petrol pumps and related oil traders are under strict surveillance by the administration. The administration has also informed that regular operations against such illegal activities will continue.

On the other hand, Minister of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku said that the supply of fuel oil in Bangladesh is normal. Black marketers are trying to create a crisis by hoarding it.
