DMP bans rallies, processions around parliament for budget session

Dhaka Metropolitan Police has banned all forms of meetings, rallies, processions and protests in and around the National Parliament building ahead of the budget session of the 13th National Parliament. The ban was announced in a public notice signed by DMP Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed on Friday, June 5.

According to the notice, the second session of parliament will begin on Sunday. In order to ensure smooth conduct of the session and maintain peace and order in and around the parliament building, carrying of all kinds of arms, explosives and harmful objects has been prohibited in designated areas from Saturday midnight. Meetings, rallies, processions and protests have also been banned.

The restricted areas include Mohakhali crossing to Banglamotor via Old Airport Road, Panthapath-Farmgate, Shyamoli intersection to Dhanmondi-16, Bijoy Sarani, Manik Mia Avenue, the reserved area of the parliament building, and all roads and alleys within these zones. The order will remain in effect until the end of the second session.
