DMP Commissioner seeks relief from duty, signs resign letter
Sheikh Md. Sazzat Ali, commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), has sought relief from his duties citing personal and family reasons.
He signed the resignation letter on Wednesday noon (February 25) and forwarded it to the Bangladesh Police Headquarters.
Confirming the matter to the media, Sazzat Ali said the decision was made primarily due to personal and family considerations.
Although his contractual tenure was scheduled to expire on November 21, he has applied for resignation nearly nine months ahead of the stipulated term.
The letter is currently under process at the Police Headquarters, and the resignation will take effect upon approval by the competent authority.
Earlier, on February 15, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam also submitted his resignation letter.
