The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has once again imposed a ban on all types of public gatherings, rallies, and processions in several important areas of the capital, citing concerns over public order and security.

In a public notice issued on Thursday, signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Mohammad Sazzat Ali, the police announced that the restrictions will come into effect from Friday, September 12, and will remain in place until further notice.

According to the notification, the ban applies to the following areas: the official residence of the Chief Justice, Judges’ Residence, Judges’ Complex, main gate of the Bangladesh Supreme Court, Mazar Gate, Jame Mosque Gate, entrances to International Crimes Tribunal-1 and 2, and the front of the Judicial Administration Training Institute.

The order, issued under Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III/76), prohibits all forms of assemblies, including public meetings, gatherings, processions, human chains, sit-ins, and rallies in the specified locations.

The DMP further urged individuals and groups not to disrupt traffic by blocking roads under the guise of protest or demands.
